Wonder Bra Your Spirits With a Personal Anchor

We are what we believe. We can be strolling along quite happily the sun is shining, the birds are singing and it’s a beautiful day. Everything’s right with the world. Then before we take the next step we remember something negative about our life past or present and our mood changes in an instant. There are storm clouds above and the birds are out of tune.

Nothing has actually changed around us, only our mood. Our mood alters our perception of our surroundings and our ability to move forward in a positive way.

The flip side is that we can be having a difficult day, when life’s to-do list seems to be never ending and our shoulders are beginning to sag, then we remember that we’re out with the girls tonight, bought a new dress and that certain someone will be there too. Our spirits lift in an instant, we feel more energised and the to-do list gets done.

You can harness that positive, uplifting feeling with an immediate mood enhancer, a wonder bra for the soul. Life coaches call them anchors and the purpose is to create a physical stimulus to control the way you react so instead of waiting for a positive thought you can generate a positive thought with a physical trigger.

First, find a physical trigger, one that wont be too noticeable to anyone or is too elaborate. The usual suggestion is pressing your thumb and forefinger together.

Next, close your eyes and think of a time when you were really happy, relaxed and positive. Think about how warm and wonderful you felt, how empowered, how successful and concentrate on that thought filling your mind and body, overwhelming you with a sense of fulfillment.

At this point, press your thumb and forefinger together and hold them there for a few seconds letting the happiness fill your body. Relax your hand and repeat this twice again. Open your eyes and think about how good you are feeling right now. Practice this exercise over the next few days, conjuring up those positive feelings and building on them.

The next time you are in a situation where you feel nervous or doubt your abilities, use your anchor.

Before you step into the room full of strangers, or stand up to speak, press your thumb and finger together and let those positive feelings flow. I’ve tried it and I promise you it really works.
