Gratitude – This is the Part Where the Rubber Meets the Road

Bringing gratitude to life in your life

For now, I’m not going to sing the praises of gratitude, or tell you what the idea itself means, instead I’m just going to give you a few easy exercises and let you feel the effects for yourself. After all, I’m pretty sure you already understand the whole idea behind sharing abundance in order to grow abundant, and nothing so completely embodies that ideal better than spreading gratitude everywhere you go!

However, let me prepare you for one thing first: If you choose to give these techniques a test drive for yourself, you are going to be amazed and overwhelmed at the the immediate effects they have on the people around you.

Where the rubber meets the road

It’s one thing to feel grateful to others, but it’s a different sort of thing altogether to express it. This first practice in gratitude is easy, but it’s challenging because you are going to express gratitude to ten people. Ten should be enough to keep you actively grateful all day.

No shortcuts! Do it for real if you want the real effect. It isn’t enough to just say “Thanks” when someone holds a door open. That’s too easy. You need to feel it, and then express actual heartfelt gratitude, to anyone for any reason. If someone holds a door open for you, that’s a perfect place to start, but pause and actually feel gratitude towards them, then express something more genuine than just a simple, “Thanks.”

A Head Start

Let me give you a little head start with a phrases you can easily use enough times to get your ten:

“I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it lately, but I really appreciate the way you…”

It’s really easy and a lot of fun, just make sure to pause and take notice of how a few words of gratitude can completely make someone’s day. The immediate return is available in the sparkle of their eyes. But just wait a day so after you gave someone some honest to goodness gratitude and see what happens, you’ll be amazed!
