- Why Is It at the Top?
Walden University was originally founded in 1970, by New York State teachers, Bernie and Rita Turner. This couple believed that those adults who are active in the workforce deserve to find other methods of studying academics in order to make themselves better for the sake of society. Since then, over the past 41 years, Walden has become one of the largest fully online accredited colleges in the world. It is a prominent member of the Laureate International Universities Network, which is a global network of over 42 accredited institutions (both online and campus-based) spanning over 20 countries around the world. Nearly half a million students attend these institutions and Walden University is one of the most outstanding of the group.
Walden University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (which is an agency of the CHEA ) and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

The cost per quarter is $4,600 not including the costs for residencies and technology fee.

Technology fees apply to all programs. There are, however, several financial aid programs that are available for tuition assistance.
At Walden, you can access your courses and classrooms online via MyWalden page, which is set up for each student upon entering the program. You will be given a log in so you can access your course information and online classroom anywhere, which is a huge asset in online learning. You get to create your own learning environment!
Each online classroom includes a dropbox to submit assignments, a chat area for discussions with classmates, and a gradebook for you to view your weekly grades.
There are, however, some technology requirements necessary to view your online courses and be successful in your program completion. The major ones are access to the Internet, email, and desktop productivity tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. and Adobe Acrobat Reader for reading PDF documents.
